Ground based spraying of mosquitoes set to begin tonight

The Sutter-Yuba Mosquito & Vector Control District reports that in an effort to minimize the spread of WNV in the Sutter-Yuba area, District personnel will begin ultra low volume spraying in agricultural areas as well as the rural communities of Robbins and Meridian, beginning tonight, June 15, 2021. Spraying will commence just prior to sunset and continue weekly. Spraying will be performed with pickup mounted foggers every week starting at about sunset and continuing up to 2 ½ hours. The District will be using a material with the natural active ingredient, pyrethrum, in the product, EverGreen 5-25 Ground. This material is registered by the Environmental Protection Agency and applied and/or supervised by the District’s trained and certified technicians according to product label directions . Although this material poses a low risk to human health, some people may prefer to avoid or minimize exposure by staying indoors, keeping their windows closed and turning off their window –mounted air conditioners, evaporative coolers and whole house fans when spraying is taking place in the immediate area. You can obtain additional information about spray operations by calling the District office at 674-5456 ext. 0 between the hours of 7 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday thru Friday or by viewing our website at www.sutter-yubamvcd.org.
