Spraying Update

Town Route 07/10/2024

The Sutter-Yuba Mosquito & Vector Control District reports that in an effort to reduce the risk of West Nile Virus in the Sutter-Yuba area, District personnel will continue ultra low volume spraying for Sutter County town areas in Live Oak, Sutter, and Yuba City. Sutter County areas will be sprayed on Wednesday mornings. Yuba County town areas in Marysville, Linda, Edgewater, Olivehurst, Plumas Lake, and Wheatland will be sprayed on Thursday mornings.  Spraying will be performed with pickup mounted foggers every week starting as early as 3:30 AM and continuing up to 6:30 AM. An aerial mosquito control application has been scheduled for agricultural areas west of Yuba City tonight, July 09, 2024.  Spraying has been scheduled starting at sunset and lasting 2 to 3 hours. Although this material poses a low risk to human health, some people may prefer to avoid or minimize exposure by staying indoors, keeping their windows closed and turning off their window –mounted air conditioners, evaporative coolers and whole house fans when spraying is taking place in the immediate area. An aerial mosquito control application has been scheduled for agricultural areas north of Marysville and areas south of Linda and Olivehurst and east of Plumas Lake and south of Wheatland tonight, July 01, 2024. Spraying will be performed starting at sunset and lasting 2 to 3 hours.  All treatments are dependent on appropriate weather conditions, and visibility due to smoke.  Aircraft applications will be made with a white, with red stripe Ag Wagon, white twin engine Cessna 232 Skymaster, or a yellow and blue stripe Air Tractor flying at approximately 300 feet in elevation.

A surge of mosquitoes in the Edgewater community has prompted the District to continue spraying this area on the morning of Thursday, June 27th beginning as early as 3:30 a.m. Due to high call volumes, requests for services at individual homes in the Edgewater area can no longer be accommodated.
