Additional WNV Detections

Friday, August 2, 2019 The Sutter-Yuba Mosquito and Vector Control District has detected additional evidence of West Nile virus in mosquitoes collected in Sutter and Yuba Counties. Mosquito samples recently collected northwest of Live Oak  and  in Olivehurst have tested positive for the virus. to see where WNV is currently active you may use the interactive map below.  Currently we have had no detection of WNV in dead birds or sentinel chicken flocks. Mosquito populations of the WNV vector are present in the District’s abundance traps and may increase with high temperatures. The District’s surveillance system is in full operation and mosquito control efforts are fully deployed.
