The District is responding to a detection of West Nile virus in a sample of mosquitoes that came back positive, as well as a new detection of invasive Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in the Tierra Buena area of Yuba City. On Monday, June 27, 2022, areas marked on the maps will be fogged between the hours of 4:30 AM and 6:00AM. The District will be using a material with the active ingredient, permethrin. This material is registered by the Environmental Protection Agency and applied and/or supervised by the District’s trained and certified technicians according to product label directions. Although this material poses a low risk to human health, some people may prefer to avoid or minimize exposure by staying indoors, keeping their windows closed and turning off their window –mounted air conditioners, evaporative coolers and whole house fans when spraying is taking place in the immediate area.
