On June 21st agricultural areas in South Yuba County will be treated for adult mosquitoes with ground fogging.  This special treatment will be performed due to the high abundance of mosquitoes in our surveillance traps, and will be starting at sunset and lasting 2 to 3 hours. The treatment targets rural areas and goes from the border of Linda to the area surrounding the town of Wheatland.
The District will be using a combination of insecticides including Pyrethins and Pyrethroids.  These ultra low volume spraying materials are registered by the Environmental Protection Agency and are applied according to label directions by the District's trained and certified technicians and contractors. This ultra low volume spraying will affect rural areas of South Yuba County. Although these materials pose a low risk to human health, some people may prefer to avoid or minimize the exposure by staying indoors, keeping their windows closed and turning off their window-mounted air conditioners, evaporative coolers and whole house fans when spraying is taking place in the immediate area.
